LEVEL 1: Baltan's Revenge
When Baltan's attempt to take Hellions Gate is thwarted by Max Holocaust, Baltan brings him down to his kingdom to level the playing field.

[GAMEPLAY]
PLAYER is in a large room and is able to look and move about. He has a weapon (custom shotgun) but no ammo. The room is a 3x3x3 octagon. A fake door immediately behind the player is locked. A second door is directly across the room in front of the player. The room is ancient, moldy stone and marble and the doors are large, metal and ornate. The floor is marble with a large star design. The room is lit with wall mounted torches. In the center of the room and a step up is a large alter. Wooden benches surround it. Above the alter, a ghost-like (semi-transparent) BALTAN is speaking.

BALTAN: "You are quite a specimen, Max Holocaust. A mere mortal, yet you've almost single handedly defeated my army and spoiled my plan. If I didn't know better, I'd think you had... divine help. Do you Max? (BALTAN laughs) It doesn't matter. You can't defeat me. You've only delayed me. We'll take Hellion Gate soon enough, now that you're down here."

PLAYER: "I don't know who you are, bozo, or why you want Hellion Gate, but..."

BALTAN: "Oh, Hellion Gate is just the beginning. And then, well... it's a shame you won't be around to find out. I've arranged for some games to keep you busy, a sort of... underground Olympics. Won't that be fun?"

PLAYER: "Games huh? More ladies or did you bring some players this time."

BALTAN: (BALTAN laughs) "Down here my "players" are not burdened with earthly bodies. Down here, there are no rules. I think you'll find my players to be a little more... formidable this time. Why don't we start with say... twenty?"

PLAYER: "That hardly seems fair. You sure you don't need a few more?"

BALTAN: "Enough talk Holocaust! It's time you joined the little girl. Let's play."

As the discussion ends, BALTAN fades out and the large door at the far side of the arena opens.

PLAYER: "Is that the way to the party?" 

PLAYER: "I should see whats on the alter."

On the alter is a bowl with dried blood in it, a book with an unreadable title, and a token. As player nears the alter he picks up the token.

PLAYER: "Some kinda' token. Maybe theres a game room in there."

[GAMEPLAY]
As PLAYER passes through the doorway a hidden magazine (8 shotgun rounds) is picked up and loaded.
The level is a labyrinth with the room just departed at its center. It has many dead ends and only one exit, back to the room in which it started. It is composed of the same ancient stone as the first room, only decayed and broken with earth showing in places. No ceiling can be seen. The area imidiately at the door is dark, but light can be seen ahead. It is lit by wall torches and fires. The open areas have burn pits and the darker areas require that a torch be carried. A torch can be picked up in the first open area with a burn pit.

The initial area of the labyrinth doubles back on itself with no exit. Two ENEMY must be killed in this area (1 shotgun blasts each) to continue. Player uses random taunts and phrases such as... "Oh, if looks could kill!" and "Man, that had to hurt". After the second ENEMY is dispatched, the PLAYER will find a false door. Next to the door is a trigger zone.

PLAYER: "No exit. So this really is a game." 

When the PLAYER exits the trigger zone, MINNIE appears and tells him how to exit.

MINNIE: "Go back... back to where you came in. There is another door. Be careful! Demons are watching you."

PLAYER: "Minnie! Is that you? I thought you were..."

MINNIE: "There's no time. Go now!"

MINNIE fades away.

PLAYER: "Minnie wait! Don't go! Minnie? 
(a short delay while MAX considers the possibility)

PLAYER: (to self) "Wake up dumb-shit. Remember where you're at and who you're dealing with. Better check it out just the same."

PLAYER must return to the door from which he entered the labyrinth. Another ENEMY waits for him in the room. The door that was locked is now unlocked.

This area takes 2 shots to dispatch each ENEMY (3) . (6 of 8 total)
